I always list (as a responsible domainer) the English translation with the IDN names I sell. For example, I have www.Bıd.com (English translation: www.xn--bd-hpa.com) and www.Hıs.com (English: xn--hs-hpa.com) on sale now at eBay. And I identify that these as IDNs in the auction tile, sub title, and again in the description (with even a link to "about -ı letter by Wikipedia")!

Even still, I get emails from people that use and "i" instead of the IDN letter "ı" (no dot over the vertical bar) or cut and past the "Bıd.com" domain name into a Whois (which often drops the "ı" altogether and returns a Whois for DB.com or HS.com.

While I can understand why people would type in an "i" instead of an "ı" (if they speak only English and have only the English character language setup on their computer), I can't understand why the WHOIS providers won't install all the non-English character sets on their servers so their WHOIS works correctly for IDNs??

Next I am going to test the WHOIS link you have listed in the Tools section of this blog site!
